Alberto Cruz is a multidisciplinary artist, graphic designer from Alvarado, Veracruz, Mexico, based in Toronto, Canada. His artistic practice involves various creative disciplines such as painting, graphic design, illustration, mural art and collage. His visual style is influenced by the art of pre-hispanic cultures (Olmec,Totonac, Aztec, Maya) and by artists like Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Rufino Tamayo and “Los Tres Grandes” (Orozco, Siqueiros, Rivera).
Alberto is a creative human being; a self-taught painter, a graphic design graduate and an emerging muralist. From 1998 to 2001 he studied graphic design and illustration at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario. In 2018 he completed the Mural Art Career Development (MACD) Program offered by Mural Routes to selected artists in Toronto, Canada.
