It was very impactful to me when I learned about what had occurred in Mexico the morning of October 2, 1968. I decided to paint this as a tribute, this painting it’s been in process for over 10 years (mostly stored). In 2019 it was retaken and considered done to be shown at an art show. Although it was before I was borned It really touched me, I empathize with the students that were murdered by the Mexican government in the massacre of Tlatelolco. Following a summer of increasingly large demonstrations protesting the 1968 Olympics held in Mexico City, the Mexican Armed Forces opened fire on 2 October 1968 on unarmed civilians, killing an undetermined number, in the hundreds. It occurred in the Plaza de las Tres Culturas in the Tlatelolco section of Mexico City.
