Sax player | 14”h x 12”w | Mixed media on canvas | 2001

It was the trips to Detroit, Chicago and the influence of Joe Sorren’s style, an artist from California, that gave me the initiative to create this painting, It was done in two parts; the side of the blue hand and face, which was more controlled, painted in oils because I wanted to achieve the look of “monstrous hands” like I had seen in one of Joe Sorren’s paintings. The other hand, and the saxophone were done in acrylics very loosely and fast, giving the painting a contrast in execution approach and vivid colours.
